Entry Requirements
What You Will Typically Need
US applications tend to be more document heavy than other destinations, so it helps to start early.
- Academic transcripts and certificates from your qualifying degree or exam
- Standardised test scores where required, such as SAT or ACT for undergraduate programmes, or GRE or GMAT for many graduate programmes
- An English proficiency score, usually IELTS or TOEFL
- A Statement of Purpose or personal essay, along with letters of recommendation
- A valid passport
Not every university asks for standardised test scores, and requirements vary widely between institutions. Our counsellors will confirm exactly what each of your shortlisted universities expects.
Tuition Fees and Living Costs
Planning Your Budget
Tuition varies enormously depending on whether a university is public or private, and whether you are looking at a community college pathway or a four year university. As a rough guide, annual tuition can range from around USD 20,000 at public universities to USD 45,000 or more at private universities, with living costs depending heavily on the city, typically between USD 1,000 and USD 2,000 per month.
These figures are indicative only and vary widely by institution and location. Your counsellor will share accurate, university specific figures, including the total cost of attendance used for your visa documentation.
Scholarships and Funding
Reducing the Cost of Your Degree
Many US universities offer merit scholarships, assistantships, and need based aid to international students, particularly at the graduate level. Our counsellors will help you identify universities known for funding students in your field, and flag deadlines that often fall earlier than the general application deadline.
Scholarship and assistantship availability, value, and eligibility are decided by the awarding university and can change from one intake to the next.
